About me

I’m pretty legit, if you count a license in clinical mental health counseling, a three-kid circus, and a and a long-haul marriage that’s weathered storms and still knows how to dance. I’ve been the one in the client's chair and the one behind the clipboard. I’ve also been the lady sobbing over a butterfly and the one shouting “yes, and!” in improv class.

Life is messy, weird, hilarious, and holy—and I’m here for all of it. I’m not interested in polished perfection—I’m interested in what’s real, what grows, and what heals.

My mission is to help those who want to slow down, root deep, and stretch toward the life they were made for—one that honors their body, story, spirit, and sense of humor.

What does “Rooted and Winging It” mean?

The name speaks to the paradox I live in daily — and maybe you do too. It’s that strange, beautiful tension between wanting to be grounded and needing to stay open. Between stability and spontaneity. Between planting deep and letting go.

Rooted

This is the part of us that longs for depth, meaning, and connection to something greater. It knows our soul needs stillness, ritual, and faith — and it cherishes the relationships that ground and grow us. It’s living in alignment with the truth that we are part of a beautiful and bigger story.

Winging It

This is learning to trust the process, even when the process feels like an improv skit we weren’t prepared for. It’s when your “best” is actually NOT doing your “best” 🤯. Its turning a stumble into a little dance - knowing that life is unpredictable and we can respond with a “Yes, and…” (thank you to improv theater for helping strengthen my “winging it wings” in multiple areas!🙌)

FAQ

You’ve got questions. I’ve got answers.

How do I keep groundhogs out of my garden

Move to Spain, and get on of those apartments with balconies and the 9th floor. Plant a bunch of ferns and water them everyday. There's a 99% chance they won't bother you.

Or build a fence 5 feet high and 3 ft deep.

Or become a garlic farmer.

Help! My kids are driving me crazy

Stop what you are doing and go find a corner of grass. Lay face down and breathe in earth and grass. Then flip over and offer yourself up to the universe.

If you have a toddler/baby they must be kept safe. Equip them with a playpen or screen or something they are comfortably strapped into, and keep them in view.

I'd like to find a therapist - how do I choose?

First of all - Props to you! You are about to make an important investment in yourself and your future self thanks you!

Find someone who is not "marrried" to a particular modality. They should be well versed in mind-body approaches. CBT was once the end-all be all but we are past that now, folks. Cognitive work IS essential, but we have learned so much in the last 2 decades about the necessity of body work in therapy. Find somone with those updates! Also, you just gotta feel if the vibe is right, so sometimes you just have to do a session or 2 to know. Don't worry about jumping ship, they can handle it - it's more important for you to have a good fit.

As a busy mom, how do you make time to have a soul-hobby like gardening or painting?

Boundaries. Reduce (or stop, if possible) doing things and spending time with people who zap your soul and replace it with connecting with nature and your own creativity and expression. Treat it as a priority that your life depends on and find yourself a responsible mom's helper or babysitter. (Pay them the money you might have spent on alcohol for coping, since you'll no longer need that).

Wait, Tracy. So are you in mental health, wellness, gardening, acting, comedy or something else?

Yes.
